Tex Wanganeen The Essendon Football Club has announced that it will not be offering new contracts to three of its players: Nick Hind, Tex Wanganeen, and Kaine Baldwin. The club has expressed its gratitude for the significant contributions these players have made during their time with the Bombers.

Nick Hind, who joined Essendon from St Kilda during the 2020 trade period, has been a notable figure on the team. Over his tenure with the Bombers, Hind played 74 games, adding to the 21 games he had previously played for the Saints. His time at Essendon has been marked by his dedication and consistent performance on the field.

Tex Wanganeen, a father-son recruit, was signed by Essendon in the 2022 Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period (SSP). Wanganeen had a challenging stint with the Bombers, playing five games in his debut season of 2022. Unfortunately, injuries plagued him throughout his time at the NEC Hangar, affecting his ability to contribute consistently.

Kaine Baldwin, who joined the Bombers as an SSP signing in 2021, faced a difficult journey with the club. Baldwin played a total of eight games over his four years with Essendon. His time at the club was significantly impacted by a navicular injury, which unfortunately kept him sidelined for the entire 2024 season. This injury substantially hindered his ability to showcase his potential on the field.

Daniel McPherson, General Manager – AFL, acknowledged the impact that Hind, Wanganeen, and Baldwin had on the team. McPherson praised their resilience and determination, noting that each of them had shown considerable effort to maximize their football careers despite the challenges they faced.

“Nick, Tex, and Kaine have all been valued members of our football club. They have demonstrated great resilience and determination throughout their time with us,” McPherson said. “We are grateful for their contributions to the red and black, and we want them to know that they will always be a part of the Essendon Football Club. We wish them all the best as they move on to the next stage of their careers, both on and off the field.”

The decision not to offer new contracts to these players reflects the club’s ongoing efforts to reshape its roster and prepare for the future. As Essendon looks ahead, the focus will be on integrating new talent and building a team capable of competing at the highest level. While Hind, Wanganeen, and Baldwin will be departing, their efforts and commitment during their time with the Bombers have left a lasting impression on the club and its supporters.
